CHANGE OF SUBJECTS DURING 3RD TERM
#1
We offer a choice of Zulu or Afr for FAL from Grade 1.  Some of our parents decide in the 3rd term to change the subject to Afr from Zulu.  I then archive the Zulu and choose Afr as the FAL.  What happens to the learner's marks when calculating the final 4th term mark as there will be no marks for Afr for the 1st and 2nd terms.  Do we put -1 for the Afr. marks for the 1st and 2nd terms which will then not penalize the learner when the 4th term mark is calculated?  Thank you

Hi There

Yes the best would be to put a -1 then for those marks, in the calculations it will then not bring those -1's into account as it will then see the learner as being "absent"

Thank you. Would we do the same with new learners who joined our school - say in the 3rd - for whom we do not have any marks breakdown from the previous school for term 1 and term 2 but only the final %?

Yip 100%, unless you can obviously obtain the results from their previous school Smile
