  NSC Registration Disability Codes
Posted by: user@name - 02-26-2018, 09:49 AM - Forum: 7. Export Data - Replies (1)

Good day

Following policy documentation regarding the Disabilities and the codes which should then exist in the XML format, SA-SAMS GUI seems to have a shorter list to select NSC Reg Disabilities, as well exporting incorrect codes in the XML..

Which is the correct set of data, SA-SAMS's GUI, or the past 4 years of policy documentation?

  Resaving of Marks / Sections
Posted by: AJMorkel - 02-02-2018, 01:17 PM - Forum: 12. Curriculum Related Data - Replies (8)

Hi fine people.

I was wondering if there is an easier or simpler way to have all the marks calculate or save instead of going through each and every section and save per subject per grade. Really takes time especially when teachers miss marks for random learners then have to re-save per grade per subject.
12.3.11
12.3.12
12.7.16.3
12.7.18

Could such a way be implemented for 2018 T1 ?

Thanks
AJ

  Rounding of values
Posted by: user@name - 02-01-2018, 01:32 PM - Forum: 12. Curriculum Related Data - Replies (1)

Good day all readers.

I was capturing marks on SA-SAMS as well a spreadsheet using simple formulas to evaluate the results.

English Home Language Grade 1 Term 2 - as is from Version 18.

I've attached an image to show my findings.

Considering that the curriculum per subject per term is split further into Tasks and their respective Activities - which does serve a purpose to allow 1 Mark to be re-used for other terms (as we've noted with the Oral Term 1 Marks forming as a component of the EOY exams)...

The SA-SAMS application does some irregular rounding up of values.

I found a learner gained over 4% throughout Term 2 owing to this.

This doesn't reflect the learner's performance per assessment done, and if a small amount of rounding up occurs on every task - the more tasks allocated to the subject and the more activities each has - the more the rounding-up can deviate the final term mark from the realistic score of the learner.

Mathematically - this is incorrect.

SA-SAMS needs to allow decimal values to be captured - and retain and use these throughout the year and include all decimals during calculations for term, promotion as well year marks and only the final mark be rounded for display purposes such as report cards/schedules.

Would be amazing if this could be resolved before Version 25 comes along in 7 years time.

  SA-SAMS for teachers
Posted by: Ajiie - 02-01-2018, 11:52 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

Good day fellow educators!

I have a very short question to ask.
For who is SAMS created, the teacher or some administrator in the office?
