Information Request regarding Support
Posted by: SarelK - 08-25-2017, 03:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

This request is merely to set some guidelines and boundaries, so that everybody knows what constitutes "fair and reasonable" expectations in terms of support rendered via the forum, albeit by an Administrator or another Forumite:

1. Please bear in mind that most of us also have our own day-jobs, that require our undivided attention during office hours.

2. Yes, some of us do have families, as well as other extra-curricular activities to attend to, after hours.  As such, it isn't always possible to respond immediately.

3. Please be patient if you're waiting for an answer.  If nobody responded in a day or two, please remind us by "bumping" the thread (post in it again).

4. Always consult your Provincial EMIS Section first, prior to requesting assistance. Some EMIS Sections don't appreciate their users asking for inter-provincial support with SA-SAMS, which is quite understandable. If you cannot get a hold of them, or they cannot assist you, feel free to holler.

5. If you are paying someone to render advice on SA-SAMS, you're doing it wrong. SA-SAMS is free!

6. Please do not PM us with questions about SA-SAMS. Chances are good that some other users are experiencing the same problem(s) or challenge(s) as you.  If it is on the forum, it makes it easier for anyone with adequate knowledge of the topic to reply there and to actually have it "out there" for others to see in future, should someone be able to resolve it for you.

7. Please do not e-mail me with your SA-SAMS questions, for the same reasons as paragraph 6, above.

8. Do not send your database to anybody other than an official of the EMIS Directorate, your Provincial EMIS Section, or an Administrator on this forum.

9. If you need to send me a database of your school, please download a Free Evaluation copy of WinRAR (use "Best" compression) or download and install 7-zip (use "Ultra" Compression) to compress the file, so that it can be transmitted faster via GMail, Yahoo! Mail, or another suitable mail client.  Remember that some mail servers have a limitation on the size of attachments that you can send - if in doubt, consult with your Internet Service Provider.  You are also welcome to upload it securely to the cloud and to share the link with an Administrator via PM or e-mail, so that we can take a look.

10. Most of us don't have subsidized mobile phones. Don't just distribute or post personal mobile numbers.  It belongs to us, in person - we pay the bills.  We cannot always phone you from work, because that wouldn't be right towards our employers, for obvious reasons. So, if you need assistance and have been supplied with a contact number, be courteous and make the call.  Don't expect to have calls answered after 21:00 in the evenings.

I really hope that this will clear things up in terms of expectations for acceptable means of communication.

A great tool for teachers is CLASSDOJO I have been using it for a few years now and my learners love it. And it's free, no ads, just free, like SA-SAMS.

  Attendance Register
Posted by: Ashraf - 08-13-2017, 06:51 PM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (1)

One of the modules I really like is the Learner Attendance - 3.3

Thursday afternoons I print the Weekly Learner Attendance register, for our class teachers to complete the Friday morning.

One of my pet hates, is not having the class teacher's name on this page (I have to write the names on these manually), my humble request to the SA-SAMS team is to put the name of the class teacher of these weekly registers. Will save me lots of time.

Or if someone can tell me how to do it, will really appreciate it thanks.

Good Morning Colleagues

My name is Given, based in Pretoria, Mamelodi. I have been a SA-SAMS user for about five years now, and finally getting around every corner of the modules. I am not saying i know everything about it, however i believe that i can perform most of the task you can think of, for the daily monitoring.

I was wondering if the are some users who are based pretoria so that we can organise a group that will meet regularly to discuss more about the challenges and solutions that we encounter at schools.

Regards

Given

Hello everyone

My name is Sibongile Dladla. I'm an Information Technology Officer(ITO) at the Ugu District in KZN. I'm employed under the EMIS Directorate and happy to say SASAMS takes up 80% of my job description now.

We are busy training our CES, DCES and SES in different sections to get them onboard with thier different modules and also working to get all 500 of our schools on the DDD.

I'm happy to be a part of the forum and hope I will gain a lot of additional information and troubleshooting ways to help my schools and my fellow colleagues in KZN.

Also willing to help in anyway possible to people queries since I have been working with SASAMS since 2009  Smile

Peace out  Wink
